The Privacy Shift. In 2012, you could track almost anything using third-party cookies. In 2025, privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, Apple's ATT) have blinded traditional tracking. Modern brands now rely on First-Party Data and Server-Side Tracking to tell the platforms who their customers are. The data pipeline reversed.

Personalization at Scale. In 2012, you wrote 3 versions of an ad and hoped for the best. In 2025, tools like Klaviyo and Adobe Sensei use predictive AI to send a different message to a "High Value" customer versus a "Discount Hunter" automatically. What humans once segmented manually, machines now do continuously.
